person who robbed jweller to repay loan of siisters marriage caught by police

After contradictory statement given by the complainant Santosh Sawant in MIDC diamond jewellery robbery case police were immediately noticed and arrested along with his two accomplishes on Thursday for their involved in the robbery of the diamond jewellery worth Rs 42 lakhs.

Sawant, who use to work with Brightest Circle Jewellery private limited as a peon since past two years, had registered a complaint on Wednesday evening around 8 pm that he was kidnapped and robbed by six people in a Maruti Omni car while he was handed black rexin bag containing to diamond jewelley to keep in strong room near by the office in MIDC. Sawant also claimed in his complaint that he was assaulted on his arms by razor blades and after snatching the jewellery bag, they threw him out of the moving vehicle at Vikroli T junction.

Pradeep Suryavanshi, senior police inspector of MIDC police station, said, “There was no incident of kidnapping and robbery However, Sawant, who had given the jewellery to one scrap seller and pretended the entire drama of his kidnapping and robbery incident to repay his loan which had taken for his sister’s marriage”.

“During the investigation we found in suspect to Sawant because he when we asked to repeat the details given by him in the compliant was found to be changing certain aspects” said, Additional Commissioner of Police (West Region) Amitabh Gupta.

“Sawant’s contradictory statements were suspecting there is some foul play because the wound on his forearms which he claims that the robbers had assaulted him with a razor blade but Sawant’s full-sleeved shirt, which he had been wearing buttoned to the wrist was not torn” said Suryavanshi. We also found one thing like he alleged that he had been thrown out of a moving car by them but his clothes seemed clean and no injury was found on his other part of the body” added, Suryavanshi.

“In the interrogation Sawant finally broke down and admitted to having committed the crime” said police official. “He also confessed that the entire robbery drama was made by him because he needed money to pay his 40,000 loan which had taken for his sister’s marriage and also wanted more money for marriage of his another sister” added, officer.

The other two accused have been identified as Ashok Bidlani, 25,who works with Sawant as a peon in the same company and Mohammad Shahbuddin Shaikh, 25 a scrap dealer.

“Bidlani had given the idea to Sawant to sale the jewellery and also introduced his friend Shaikh to him. Shaikh would give Rs around 2 lakh to Sawant for the whole Jewellery” said, Gupta. “awant also revealed that he had himself handed over the bag containing the jewellery to Shaikh after leaving his office. He later went at Vikroli and called his employers and told them about the robbery and cut his on his forearms with a razor blade” added Gupta.
The all three accused have arrested by MIDC police and they have recovered eighty percent of the booty from them.
